The Victoria Royals defeated the Kelowna Rockets 2-1 on Friday night in Prospera Place.
The game was a goaltenders affair as both made quality saves throughout the evening.
The first period showed a slow start for the Rockets. The Royals took an early 1-0 lead and sat on it. The Rockets registered four shots through the first 20 minutes, but only surrendered eight in the frame.
The Rockets came to life in the second period firing 15 shots toward Royals net minder Griffen Outhouse but he held the door shut and the score remained 1-0 after 40 minutes.
Victoria scored again to pull ahead 2-0 midway through the third. Nolan Foote got the Rockets on the board with his 10th of the season but it wouldn’t be enough as Outhouse ended the Rockets hopes of a comeback.
Michael Herringer fell to 17-9-1-0 on the season.
Kelowna drops to 23-14-2-0 on the year.
The Rockets next home game is Wednesday January 4th, when they host the Spokane Chiefs.
