An unassisted goal from Connor Beauchemin, his fourth of the night, kept the Golden Rockets from heading into overtime with the Grand Forks Border Bruins.

That goal, scored with less than two minutes left of the clock, gave the Rockets at 7-6 win.

The Rockets started the game strong, scoring two goals in the first only 16 seconds apart. The Bruins answered back with two of their own, but Golden was able to regain the lead before the end of the period at 0:47 with a goal from Josh Jewell.

A span of two minutes in the second period saw the lead shift again when Grand Forks scored three goals, each about a minute apart.

Keith Wake lessened the gap with an unassisted goal before the buzzer went on the second period, leaving the score at 5-4 for the Bruins heading into the third.

Beauchemin scored three goals in the final frame, giving his team the two points, and keeping them in the top spot in the Eddie Mountain Division.
