Carter Rigby scored twice and Jackson Whistle stopped 18 shots for his first shutout of the season as the Kelowna Rockets downed the road-weary Swift Current Broncos 4-0 in WHL action before 4,500 fans Tuesday night at Prospera Place.

Justin Kirkland got the 7-0 Rockets off to a good start with his fourth goal of the season just 56 seconds into the opening period.

Whistle wasn’t overly busy against the Broncos who were playing their fifth games in eight nights.

Rigby scored midway through the second and third periods for his fourth and fifth goals of the season, before Cole Linaker clicked with under five minutes to play in the third period. Austin Glover had a pair of assists on Rigby’s markers.

“After we got up on them 2-0 in the first,  they were probably anxious get back home, it’s been a long road trip,” said Rockets’ head coach Dan Lambert. “I’ve been there, we’ve certainly been there as a team, it’s not an easy game. I have to give our guys credit because sometimes you can fall asleep and next thing you know, you give up a couple of goals. You’ve got to be careful and I think our guys did a good job.”

The Rockets host the Lethbridge Hurricanes Saturday night at Prospera Place.
