The Golden Rockets let one slip away from them in a Friday night game against division rival the Fernie Ghostriders.
Both teams came out of the gate on a slow pace combining for only 13 shots in the first period.
It was the Rockets who got on the board first netting a second period goal from team captain Brett DeFrias. Both Carson George and Jacob Bergeron got assists on the power play marker.
However, the power play would come back to haunt the Rockets before the evening was over. The Ghostriders would score three minutes into the third on a power play of their own and less than four minutes later they would grab the lead with a short handed tally. Fernie never looked back and ended winning 4-1.
Even though he gave up four goals on the evening, Rockets goalie James Leonard was awarded the third star of the night after making a number of difficult stops throughout the games.
The Rockets will play at home on Saturday, Oct. 20 against the Princeton Posse. The game will start at 7:30 p.m.
