The Alberni Armada girls rugby team took home a win against D.W. Poppy Secondary School in a friendly match on the Lower Mainland last week.
“We went over to D.W. Poppy as it is always nice to play against teams from different areas,” said coach Ryan Hall. The Armada girls won 42-35.
“It was a close game but we ended up coming from behind to win by seven.”
The Langley school wasn’t picked randomly for the match.
“It’s the school I did my teacher training at 11 years ago. I coached their junior boys rugby team while I was there,” said Hall.
“We try to set up a game with them every year.
“This year was our turn to travel and it was a great day overall.”
