The Ridge Meadows Rustlers captured the Final Four championship banner for Fraser Valley Flight 3 on home ice Thursday, defeating a strong Chilliwack atom A2 team 7-4.

After the three-game Final Four tournament in South Delta earlier in the week, the two teams were forced to play a tiebreaker for the title.

Rustlers head coach Andy Wingrove secured home ice for the fourth and deciding game by winning a coin toss, setting the stage for the final at Pitt Meadows Arena.

It was standing room only for what turned out to be another dominating performance by the A2 Rustlers, led by second-year forwards Dawson Hemminger, with a goal and two assists on the night, and Aidan Chabot, who chipped in with two goals.

It was a successful year for the group, which captured the league championship at the end of February, led by the coaching staff of Wingrove, Brad Young and Joe Germain.

The roster includes goaltenders Beau Benedictson and Brandon Botelho; defencemen Blake Hebert, Gavin Bell, Carter Germain, Brandon Osborne, Paul Taylor and Scott Williams; and forwards Joshua Bettesworth, Blake Young, Logan Myers, James Kitsch, Kolby Koran and Max Wingrove.
