B.C.’s title drought at the Founders’ Cup Canadian Junior B Lacrosse Championship continues.

The provincial champion Coquitlam Adanacs fell 9-7 to the Calgary Chill in quarterfinal play in the eight-team national championships Friday in Orangeville, Ont.

The Chill, who were 2-1 in Group A, took a 5-1 lead after 20 minutes Friday, but Coquitlam cut the deficit to 7-5 after two periods.

B.C. hasn’t won a Founders’ Cup since play began in 1972, and its last national Junior B championship came when the event was known as the Castrol Cup, won by the Victoria McDonalds in 1971.

Vernon Sun Valley Source For Sports Tigers pick-ups Ryan Sarazin, Quintin Harrish and Ethan Anderson all played Friday but were held off the scoresheet.

Kamloops Venom pick-up Monty Chisholm had one goal for the Adanacs, who finished the four-team preliminary Group B stage at 1-2 Thursday, following a 10-9 overtime win against the Manitoba Blizzard.

Sarazin had a goal and an assist, Harrish had one helper and Anderson was blanked as the Adanacs scored three times in the final 5:48 to force overtime, then won it on Jared Pozzobon’s third goal of the game 53 seconds into overtime.
