Elementary school students from the Williams Lake area took part in the annual district track meet that took place Thursday and Friday at Nesika Elementary School and Columneetza Secondary School.
With a bit of cloud cover and a present temperature of 12C the weather conditions were ideal.
In all, more than 365 students competed at the event.
Things kicked off Thursday afternoon with the 1,000-metre runs, and finished up Friday when the final heats and field events took place at 3 p.m.
“It was excellent,” said District Track Meet organizer Kelvin Parent of Mountview elementary.
“We increased the times this year for each event to 55 minutes and that allowed us to get all the field events to three attempts.”
He said three attempts for each participant is much better than two, as it gives competitors the opportunity to score better in their respective events.
Parent also thanked all the help from the multiple volunteers who made the day possible.
“Excellent help, excellent weather,” he said. “We were a bit down on students, but eight schools participated.”
Mountview, GROW, Cataline, Chilcotin, Nesika, 150 Mile, Big Lake and Marie Sharpe all took part at the track meet.
Overall aggregate results are as follows:
