The Highland dance competition season is in full swing, and recently, local dancers Quinn Andrews, Madeline Martin and Alexandra Wolfe were in Vernon for back-to-back events.

On Jan. 21, the Sons of Scotland Kildonnan Highland Dance Competition held at the Vernon Rec. Complex saw Andrews land a first-place and five second-place results in the Novice 13 & Over division.

It was also a successful weekend for Martin who competed in Premier 13 & Under to win one second and a couple of thirds.

Wolfe performed five strong routines in the Premier 14 & 15 class, but did not place.

The next day at the Interior Highland Dance Competition, also held at the Rec. Centre, Andrews and Martin were each overall aggregate winners in their respective divisions. Andrews placed first in all six of her dances and Martin had three firsts, a second and a third. Wolfe earned a sixth-place award.
