The Semiahmoo Minor Hockey League Association will be giving thanks to the dozens of volunteers who help make the organization a success tomorrow evening.
Prior to the evening event, Vancouver Canuck and White Rock Native Jason Garrison will be on hand at South Surrey Arena to sign autographs at 2 p.,m.
Garrison will also stop by during the the Volunteer Appreciation Night at the arena, sponsored by the Surrey Eagles, which will kick off at 6 p.m. with the puck dropping on a Eagles vs. Semi Alumni game at 7 p.m.
The game will be followed by a family fun skate, and throughout the night, visitors can enjoy free barbecue and beverages, as well as music.
“We’ve got a thousand members, and we’re one of the largest minor hockey associations in B.C. and we do it largely through volunteers,” said Pat La Roue, who manages the association’s website, noting that the Eagles’ support helped make the night possible. “We’re real happy with our combined efforts. It’s a good vision of the future.”
The appreciation event caps off the association’s weeklong Hockey Homecoming, which welcomed back players, volunteers and member families for another hockey season on the Peninsula.
