The senior B Nanaimo Timbermen wanted to earn their berth in nationals, and now they’ll have a chance to try to do just that.
The Re/Max Timbermen have advanced to the B.C. finals, where they will face the Ladner Pioneers.
The final will be just a best-of-three due to arena availability issues, said Shawn Swanson, Timbermen general manager, in an e-mail. As well, both the T-men and Pioneers are already through to the Presidents Cup national championships because with Nanaimo as host city, B.C. gets two berths.
The senior B Timbermen won their semifinal series earlier this week with a 11-8 road win Tuesday against the Victoria Wolves. Nanaimo won the best-of-five series three games to one.
In Tuesday’s game, Sam Postma led the offence with a hat trick. Ryan Taylor had two goals and two assists, Cayle Ratcliff had a goal and three assists and Andrew Miller and Jon Diplock both had a goal and two helpers. Other scorers were Shane Chalker, Adam Bakular-Evans and Braden Senft.
Pete Dubenski earned the win in goal as the T-men outshot the Wolves 46-31.
