The Nanaimo Timbermen senior B lacrosse club will kick it old school.
The city’s West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association club decided this off-season to go to a more retro look moving forward and will go back to the vintage Timbermen logo used by Nanaimo District Lacrosse Association teams.
“[It’s] just to keep the logo fluid from the start to the finish, from tyke all the way up,” said Shawn Swanson, the club’s general manager. “It was something that kind of needed to be done and we wanted to do it.”
The logo is slightly different from the NDLA version, as the ‘N’ has been removed from the background.
“It looks pretty sharp,” Swanson said.
The GM said an impetus for the switch, frankly, was that the team was running low on jerseys – “you lose a few every year,” he said – and had to decide whether to order more or take the opportunity to refresh the team’s look.
Swanson also noted that the club will no longer be the Acme Painting Timbermen. He said there had always been an understanding that the business would help out with title sponsorship on a short-term basis. Acme Painting will stay on as a team sponsor.
“Hopefully someone realizes that it is quite a good way to get your business name out there,” Swanson said.

The senior B Timbermen open camp April 5 and the WCSLA season starts April 23.
