Senior curling competition launched for second year

Randy Ferbey's Everest-Ferbey National Pro Am set to launch next month

The second annual Everest-Ferbey National Pro Am will begin with a contest launching in November that is activated in curling clubs across the country and open to senior curlers of all skill levels. Participants will be eligible for monthly prizes and automatically entered into the national grand prize draw to win one of four VIP trips to the 2016 Everest Canadian Senior Curling Championships in Digby, N.S., and to curl in the Pro Am with Randy Ferbey and other pro curlers.

“The interest and participation in last year’s Everest-Ferbey National Pro Am was fantastic,” said Randy Ferbey in a statement. “I am so proud to be part of an initiative that supports senior curlers and can’t wait to meet this year’s four lucky contest winners at the 2016 Everest Canadian Senior Curling Championships in Digby. We’ve got some exciting things planned this year and can’t wait to share them with everyone soon.”

Ferbey will be touring the country through October and November, visiting select curling clubs to promote the Everest-Ferbey National Pro Am. The Everest-Ferbey National Pro Am will take place on April 2 at 12 p.m. at the Digby Curling Centre during the 2016 Everest Canadian Senior Championships. Club managers can register their curling club for the Everest-Ferbey National Pro Am contest at everestfuneral.ca/curling. The Everest-Ferbey National Pro Am launched last year in celebration of Everest becoming the title sponsor of the Canadian Senior Curling Championships. In last year’s event, the team led by Olympic Gold Medalist, Jennifer Jones narrowly defeated Team Ferbey in the lively match held on the final day of the 2015 Everest Canadian Seniors at Edmonton’s Thistle Curling Club.

The event attracts fans from across the nation and provides four lucky winners with a VIP weekend and the opportunity to curl with Ferbey and Jones in the Pro Am during the Everest Canadian Senior Curling Championships. Edmonton 2015 winner, Liz Armstrong of Brantford, Ont., describes the memorable event as “an unbelievable, amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience – something that will never be forgotten!”
