Vernon Management/Checkers and the Lions are both 2-0 early in the Vernon Senior Men’s Slo-Pitch League.
Darl Homeniuk was 5-for-5 with four runs, while Cory Dunn went 4-for-4 and scored four times as the Management boys shelled Rosters Buzzards 25-8 Monday night at DND.
Doug Fleck also scored four runs for the Management crew, who posted six-run innings in the second and fifth. Mark Duggan had three runs, while Steve Shockey, Wes Landels, Tom Nolan and Marv Friesen each produced a deuce.
The Lake Country Lakers outlasted the M&K Ready Mixers 21-20 with Mike Rybachuk sparking the Lakers with six hits and four runs.
Darcy Quiring and Mike Bissell each supplied three hits and three runs for the Lakers, who enjoyed a seven-run second inning. Tom Hutchinson took the win.
The Lions grounded the Canadians 17-11 in other Monday night action.
