SESS hosts Valleys on the weekend

The 2014 Okanagan Valley “A” Valley  Basketball Senior Girls Championships took place at Similkameen Elementary Secondary School on February 20 – 22.

SESS senior girls played Barriere in their first contest in the tournament, winning 76-41.

They weren’t so fortunate in the second round, however, falling to number two rated Kelowna Christian by a score of 53-47.

The game, which played to a packed senior gym on Friday night, was a barnburner, with the SESS Sparks down 33-17 at one point. They tied the game at 44-44, only to  succumb to Christian late in the game.

SESS Sparks played the Charles Bloom Wolves on Saturday morning, winning by a score of 74 – 52. In their final game, Sparks beat Osoyoos Rattlers 84-65 to finish third overall in the weekend tournament.

By finishing third, Similkameen qualifies for the 2014 Single “A” Girls Provincials in Lumby March 5-8.

The Similkameen Sparks senior girls go into provincials with a 19-6 record,the fifth ranked team in the province.
