The Langley Blaze will be well represented next week.
Seven members of the Premier Baseball League program have been selected for the elite Tournament 12 showcase baseball tournament, which runs Sept. 14 to 18 at Toronto’s Rogers Centre.
Langley Blaze players Jesse Unger (catcher), Yi-Fan Pan (outfielder/pitcher), Yi-An Pan (infielder/pitcher) and Jake Polancic (pitcher) are on the British Columbia Orange roster. All four are eligible for the 2016 MLB draft.
The Blaze’s Michael Stovman (outfielder) and Rhys Cratty (3B) are on the Futures Navy roster, which features player eligible for the 2017 and 2018 draft, while Travis Horanski (infielder) is on the Prairies Purple team. He is 2016 draft eligible.
The third annual event is organized by the Blue Jays Baseball Academy.
It highlights the best Canadian amateur baseball players with college eligibility.
Eight teams represent the provinces and the players are selected by the Blue Jays Baseball Academy with the assistance of the Toronto Blue Jays’ scouting department, Baseball Canada and the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau.
Scouts from various MLB teams as well as college and university recruiters will be on hand.
