The Armstrong Shamrocks have punched their ticket as the three seed in the Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League playoffs.
The Irish crunched the South Okanagan Flames 19-14 Friday night at the Nor-Val Sports Centre.
The Shamrocks finish the regular season 6-10 and the Flames sneak into the playoffs with a 4-12 record as the fourth seed.
“Third is a success for us. We had a smaller team this year and we were injury riddled for a bit,” said Shamrocks’ coach Brett Logan.
The Rocks won the see-saw affair with four goals from Sam Hanley and Marlon Forrest, while Cam Nelson pulled a hat trick, with Joel Castle and Keith Minnis each adding a pair of goals. Kaden Sagh, Todd Hoggarth, Keegan Castle and Calvin Irmen supplied singles.
The Rocks rallied in the third to come back on the stingy Flames. Acting assistant coach and leading scorer on the senior Shamrocks, Pat Nelson, was behind the bench.
“Brett did a good job calming the guys down in the third period and we were able to come back,” said Nelson.
Connor Walton and Tanner Thompson both sniped four goals for the Flames, while Chris Pond recorded a hat trick.
The Rocks held the Flames’ leading scorer Kaid McLeod to one goal.
Cooper Holick also added a single for the fire guys.
The Shamrocks tamed the Kelowna Raiders 17-8 Thursday night at Memorial Arena.
The Kamloops Venom and the Vernon Tigers battled in the season finale Saturday night at Kal Tire Place.
Playoffs begin Tuesday night. Vernon will host a first round series.
