Shawnigan Hills parkrun report for Dec. 14

More than half the field records personal bests

Shawnigan Hills parkrun report for Dec. 14

Twenty parkrunners took part in event number 12 with over half the field recording personal-best times. The pick of these performances was from Rhonda Callow. Having run in the very first event back in September, she has knocked over two and a half minutes off that time, recording 28:10 in her 10th parkrun.

First finisher Craig Brown overcame a strong performance from first timer Jeremy Fehr to cross the line in 23:50, while Doug Kirby recorded a personal-best time of 24:36 in his second parkrun.

Other personal best times came from Anita Gillmore (27:26), Jeff Wright (29:03), Wolfgang Kuentzle (30:27), Kate Wright (32:43), Jeffrey Patterson (35:28), Azelyn MacAdam (35:38), Janice Anderson (39:50), Tiffany Newman (41:46) and Jackie De Jong (1:02:56).

Parkrun continues through the festive period with events on Dec. 21 and 28, while those wishing to run on Jan. 1, 2020 can head over to our friends in Clover Point for their special New Year’s Day parkrun. The start time is 9 a.m.

Register now at www.parkrun.ca/register. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or simply come and watch — it’s up to you. Be a part of the community, make new friends and socialize — we meet at Shawnigan Coffee House after each event. It is a great way to start the weekend.

Next run: Saturday, Dec. 21 at 9 a.m.
