Shawnigan Hills parkrun celebrated International Women’s Day in style last Saturday, with runners and marshals wearing the symbolic colour of purple. According to the National Woman’s Party of the U.S., “Purple is the color of loyalty, constancy to purpose, unswerving steadfastness to a cause.” Our loyal women parkrunners embody this steadfastness by outnumbering the male runners on a weekly basis.
It was also a day of fast times, with half the field recording personal bests. So, well done Doug Kirkby, Pieter DeVries, Paul Morris, Brian Zimmerman, Linda Zimmerman, Jeffrey Patterson, Corrie Langhout, Tracy Clements, Rachel Lawless and Greg Hamilton.
We also welcomed first timers Jan Eckersley and Nathan McDonald. Tomorrow (March 14) could see our 150th new parkrunner making their debut.
