Another close run between regulars Pieter Devries and Melanie Philipp led to a reversal of the previous week’s top finishers with Philipp leading the way in 24:15, one of nine personal-best times. Furthermore, 10 of the 23 participants have taken part in four or more of the five parkruns. This week we had four junior runners, four walkers and two dogs.

The 5km course takes you winding through the campus of Shawnigan Lake School, mixing trail and pavement in equal measure. The Shawnigan Hills parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. wind, rain or shine. Participants need only to register at https://www.parkrun.ca/register/ and bring along their barcode to each run.

So, join the parkrun movement. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or simply come and watch — it’s up to you. Be a part of the community, make new friends and socialize — we meet at Shawnigan Coffee House post-run after each event. Everyone is welcome!

Next run: Saturday, Nov. 2 at 9 a.m.
