SHSS soccer girls finish fourth in Osoyoos

The Stanley Humphries senior girls soccer team won two games and lost two in a tournament in Osoyoos this past weekend.

“We lost to North Surrey 6-0 in the first game,” said coach Branwen Hainsworth. “It was our first game together so a bit difficult playing a coastal team that has players who play year round. Then we had a great game against Osoyoos and we won 2-0. Andrea Poznikoff got both goals.”

The team continued their winning ways with a 4-0 win over Midway’s Boundary Central on Thursday morning. Courtney Terhune pulled off the hat-trick and Allie Chowned scored once.

“Finally, we played against Rossland for third  place but unfortunately, we lost 2-0,” said Hainsworth. “The girls were tired, we had a few injuries and two players had left Osoyoos for other commitments. It was difficult to lose to Rossland but they played very well and deserved the win. Dannika Bartlett did an amazing job in net for us.”
