Either the Kelowna Chiefs enjoy playing the Sicamous Eagles or they didn’t want the win as badly Wednesday night, when they lost 3-1 on the Eagles’ home ice.
The win puts the tally at three games for Kelowna to one for Sicamous, pushing round three of the playoffs to game five.
Following a scoreless first period, Jagger Bowles converted a power play early in the second frame into the first goal of the evening, assisted by Stewart Coyle and Mike Piderman. Brendan Devries potted a goal early in the third frame, assisted by Brett Trofanenko and Connor Fynn, firing up the team as well as the home crowd. Bowles put in the winning marker at 12:10, with help from Connor Buick and Brendon Wilde.
Kelowna managed to squeak in their single with 24 seconds left on the clock.
Game first star went to Sicamous netminder Jack Surgenor, who disappointed the Chiefs 37 times. Teammates Bowles and Nathan Grieve were named second and third star, respectively.
Bowles currently holds the top player in the KIJHL playoffs with 13 goals, 16 assists and 29 points. Connor Fynn is seventh with 14 goals, 10 assists and 24 points. As for goaltenders,, Surgenor holds the second spot with 283 saves in 10 games, averaging a .943 save percentage.
So, with Sicamous still in the game, the action picks up again Friday night in Kelowna, then back to Sicamous for game 6 if necessary.
