John Matejicka supplied the goal as the Vernon Silver Stars bounced Winfield 1-0 in Okanagan Men’s 55+ Soccer League action Thursday night at MacDonald Park.

It was Matejicka’s eighth tally of the season as the first-place Stars improved to 18-3-2 with one game remaining. Winfield is 11-7-4.

In other play, Kelowna Taco Time came from behind to clip Vernon Kal Tire 2-1 at Mission Sports Fields.

Denis Chabot buried a rebound after Terry Lowe’s shot struck the crossbar early in the first half for Kal Tire (8-11-2). It was Chabot’s team-high ninth goal of the year.

Kelowna levelled the score midway through the second half when Gord Anton fooled keeper Al Bensmiller with a rolling left-footer.

Dave Scott netted the winner a few minutes later as last-place Kelowna went to 4-15-2.

Central fullback Dave Church was the Orchard Park Mall Man of the Match for Taco Time, while central defender Ted Sheehan was the Burger King Man of the Match for Vernon.
