Women dressed in tutus and other gear that channels their inner goddesses will be hitting the streets in Langford this weekend for the sixth annual Goddess Run.
Starting and finishing at Westhills Stadium in Langford, the big event goes Sunday (June 4) with the five and 10 kilometre races getting underway at 8:30 a.m. and all events expected to wrap up around noon.
Organizers are encouraging members of the community to come out and cheer on participants but if you’re travelling in the area be aware of a number of road closures. Langford Parkway will be closed eastbound from West Shore Parkway to the City Centre Park traffic circle from 7 a.m. until noon. It will also be closed westbound from Jacklin to Langford Lake roads for about 45 minutes starting at 8:15 a.m. It will reopen at 9 a.m. with reduced flow and organizers ask motorists to use extra care.
Jacklin Road will be closed periodically from Sooke Road to Langford Parkway from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and Jenkins Avenue will also be closed from Brittany Drive to Jacklin Road during that time frame.
Jenkins Avenue will be closed westbound from Jacklin to Glen Lake roads from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and Glen Lake Road will be closed westbound from Jenkins Avenue to Alouette Drive. There will also be rolling road closures throughout the entire run route until the last runner has finished. For more information go to goddessrun.ca.
