One of the best rounds of Samantha Richdale’s professional golf career boosted the Kelowna product to a sixth-place tie at the latest event on the Symetra Tour.

Richdale carded a final round of five-under par 65 on Sunday to finish the Credit Union Challenge in Albany, N.Y., at 7-under 205 and just three strokes back of the winner Hsu Wei-Ling of Taiwan.

Richdale, 29, who was well back in the pack after an opening round 73, recovered nicely over the final two days going 68-65.

The tie for sixth was worth $2,689 and moves her from 20th to 18th spot on the Symetra Tour’s money list with more than $15,000.

Players finishing in the top five at season’s end will earn LPGA Tour cards for 2013. For positions six through 10, players receive some LPGA status for next year. Richdale played on the LPGA Tour from 2009 to 2012.

Next up for Richdale is the Symetra Tour’s Northeast Delta Dental International in Concord, New Hampshire. There are six events remaining on the Symetra Tour this season.

Richdale, who has a victory and second-place finish this season on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour, will be at CN Canadian Women’s Open, Aug. 19 to 25 in Edmonton.
