This week represents the unofficial launch of the 2011 skateboard and freestyle bike season; unofficial means that a few local residents have taken it upon themselves to clear the mass amounts of snow from the skate park.
With a shovel in tout and bikes and skateboards greased up and ready for action, a handful of dedicated “park brats” took it upon themselves on Wednesday, March 30th to clear away the fallen flakes in order to get back into skate/bike shape. Although it has seemed like an eternity since the sound of skateboard trucks scratching along coping has blessed the airwaves in Golden, the locals, who frequent the park, didn’t seem to miss a beat, or ollie.
With the majority of the snow removed, it will not take long now until the entire park is bare as a scratched kneecap after falling from your board. So, get out there freestyle-riders and enjoy one of Golden’s most exciting amenities, your skate park.
