Seven skaters from Terrace, B.C., competed in Surrey over the Victoria Day long weekend, boldly introducing new jumps before the crowd.

Coach Jennifer Kuehne said the skaters were prepared to face tough competition at the Victoria Day event, competing against the strong skaters from the Lower Mainland and Okanagan.

“Most the skaters had just moved up a level and added new difficult jumps to their freeskate solos. They all did fantastic, landing or trying new jumps for the first time at competition is a great achievement,” Kuehne said.

“The interpretive events were also well done with our skaters showing their strong skating skills and showing off their unique themes.”

Tristen Morgan won a gold medal in the Star 4 competition for ages 13 and older.

Teysean Henry and Miley Harris both won silver evaluation ribbons (tested “against the book”) in their categories, Henry in the introductory interpretive event and Harris in pre-introductory interpretive.

The Terrace Skating Club girls also had a chance to watch higher competitions, such as the senior ladies competition which included Kelsey Wong who was a guest skater in Terrace in March 2015.

The results of the other skaters are as follows:

In bronze interpretive group one, Brianne Monsen finished sixth, Camryn Monsen seventh, and Kaytlin Gingles eighth.

In bronze interpretive group two Tristen Morgan finished tenth, and in Star 4 freeskate under 13 Teysean Henry earned sixth.

Camryn Monsen earned sixth in Star 5 freeskate under 13.

Brianne Monsen finished eighth in pre-juvenile freeskate, and Maya Lecuyer got eighth in juvenile freeskate.
