The Skeena Grade 8 girls come home from Smithers Nov. 12 as zone champions.
Ranked number one heading into the tournament, the team did not disappoint, defeating Bulkley Valley Christian school in the finals for the tournament win.
“The girls were incredible, they played really hard,” said coach Wanda Lansdowne. “It was a very fun and exciting tournament.”
The team went undefeated in the round robin before meeting up against Smithers in the semi finals, which it won in what Lansdowne called a ‘nail biter’ of a three-game series.
The final game was played against Bulkley Valley Christian school, where despite a large amount of home support, Skeena won the match 15 – 13.
MVP of the tournament went to Anke de Witt.
