Ski and snowboard swap

District 69 Family Resource Association facilitating deals

From the desk of Youth Services Coordinator Donna Jager comes word the Dist. 69 Family Resource Association is hosting its second Annual Ski and Snowboard Swap on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The swap will be held in their youth space at their Qualicum office, located at 181 Sunningdale Road West.

According to Jager, the Ski and Snowboard Swap raises funds for youth services offered in District 69 by the Family Resource Association, and “provides an opportunity for people to sell ski and snowboarding equipment, as well as gently used and freshly laundered ski and snowboarding apparel for a 20 percent consignment fee, plus a $1 tagging fee per item.”

Once again. organizers are expecting to be able to offer “lots of good deals again this year. Not only does the swap help raise funds for youth programming, it also helps to make skiing and snowboarding more affordable for everyone,” explained Jager, pointing out “this is especially helpful to families as children and youth tend to outgrow their equipment in one or two years.”

Unfortunately, because there is no market for straight skis, they will not be accepting them.

People cane drop off their items on Wednesday Nov. 28 and Thursday Nov. 29 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or on Friday, Nov. 30 from noon to 6 p.m.  If none of these times work, call the Family Resource Association at 250-752-6766, extension 119, to arrange an alternate time for drop-off.

The Family Resource Association is a non-profit, charitable agency that serves children, families and youth in a variety of ways.  For additional information about their services go to www.d69fra.org.
