When players and spectators arrive this weekend for the Williams Lake Slo-Pitch League’s annual Overlander Pub Slo-Pitch Tournament, they’ll be greeted by a new wooden sign.
Located near the WLSPL’s ball fields at the Esler Sports Complex, the sign was made and donated by OT Timber Frames and installed by Lesley Allgrove, Lee Stokes, Derek Rogers, Oliver Tritten, Derek Godin and Bruce Ivens on Saturday in preparation for the tournament this Father’s Day weekend. Beamac Installations Ltd. donated the steel to hold up the brackets.
Sixteen teams will be competing — 10 local and six from out of town.
The tournament is the league’s annual fundraising event where, this year, the goal is to raise money for new bleachers.
Linda Barbondy, president of the WLSPL, is inviting the public to come out and watch some games, which kick off Friday evening at 7 p.m. Saturday, games start at 9 a.m.
The concession will be open and the final is slated for Sunday afternoon.
