Smith cards Senior men’s title

Peter Smith carded a two-round, 7-over 151 to claim the Senior Men’s Championship Sunday at the Vernon Golf & Country Club.

Peter Smith carded a two-round, 7-over 151 to claim the Senior Men’s Championship Sunday at the Vernon Golf & Country Club.

Smith finished four strokes ahead of runner-up Mark Longworth, while John Kuly earned overall low net honours at 134, ahead of Lorne Davies at 135.

The Super Senior low gross title went to Ernie Cherkowski at 164, and Blaine MacPherson collected low net at 141.

First flight (0-10 handicap) – Low gross: Dale Ortman, 156 (retro); low net: Dennis MacPherson, 136; 2nd gross: Brian Carpenter, 156 (retro); 2nd net: Myron Hocevar, 141 (retro); 3rd gross: Fred Johnston, 156; 3rd net: Peter McClean, 141.

Second flight (11-14 handicap) – Low gross: Ted Treller, 160; low net: Peter Murray, 142; 2nd gross: Bruce Shepherd, 166; 2nd net: Laurie Atkinson, 143; 3rd gross: Brian Jensen, 167; 3rd net: Ernie Gare, 143.
