The UBC Okanagan Heat brushed back the Quest College Kermodes 3-0 in PacWest women’s soccer action Sunday in Squamish.
Lindsey Briggs (third year, Delta) scored in the fifth and 36th minutes, and Michelle Smith (second year, Vernon) scored in the 40th minute as the Heat improved to 2-1-1. Christine Tallon (third year, Kamloops) collected the clean sheet.
“It was another solid team performance by the team today,” said Heat head coach Claire Paterson. “We moved the ball around the field well and were threatening in the final third. ”
Despite a strong second half, the Heat were unable to notch a fourth goal. The best chance came in the 80th minute, when Jennifer Kidd (fourth year, Richmond) rang a howitzer off the crossbar.
“We played one of our best games so far this season,” said second-year forward Kirsten Dodds of Vernon. “We came together as a team and the chemistry up front was awesome. The bar has been set for the rest of the season.”
The Heat tied the Langara Falcons 1-1 Saturday in Vancouver.
Dodds put UBCO up in the 44th minute, while Marissa Klees equalized at 85 minutes. The Falcons are 1-1-1.
