Steelheads bench snapped out of a slumber and squashed the visiting Prince Rupert Rampage with a 6-2 shellacking Saturday.

After a slow start, it seemed like the sleeping beauties on the Steelheads bench snapped out of a slumber and squashed the visiting Prince Rupert Rampage with a 6-2 shellacking.

On the opening face-off, the locals seemed a bit sluggish as they quickly gave up a breakaway goal.

For those first few moments, they lacked their usual speed and drive as they were out-skated and outplayed in a very unusual fashion.

That first goal however, seemed to press the reset button and we saw what we have become accustomed to: fast skating, precision passing and domineering defense.

To show the depth of the Steelhead attack, all six goals were scored by different players while nine players contributed assists.

Some fans came ready for a tough battle last weekend. The Steelheads treated them to a fast exciting game.

Joel Gellvear (17) found a good parking spot that led to a goal and two assists in last weekends game against Prince Rupert.
