Going winless in four games at its Atom Development tournament at Memorial Arena doesn’t tell the whole story for Penticton Game Time Sports.
“We had three great games that could have went either way with a bounce,” said coach Kevin Goodwin.
Game Time Sports opened with a 3-2 loss to Surrey, who they outshot by a large margin and ran into stellar goaltending. The morning of Oct. 24, they lost 8-3 to Langley, but didn’t allow a goal in the last 30 minutes. Langley ended up losing in the final. That evening, Game Time Sports lost 6-5 to Kelowna, who finished third. Their final game was a 6-5 decision in Squamish’s favour. Squamish popped two goals in the last five minutes. Goodwin said he was very proud of the boys’ effort all weekend.
“They competed in all of the games, didn’t give up and we had to battle back from two goals down a number of times,” said Goodwin. “Very happy with the results and where we are at this point in the season because this group of kids has never played together.”
