The 18 Hole Ladies Division banded together with the Nine-Hole Ladies Division at Alberni Golf Course to “waltz” their way around the dance—er, golf course.
Following instructions much too complicated to go into here, they devised a cunning way to come up with a gross score using the total gross scores of several pre-arranged holes then subtracting the combined total of the handicaps of each team.
When the music finally stopped, team 1B (B-Jay Harper, Teresa Cutting and Marie Swain) had jived their way into first position, scoring a fine 303.
Patsy Gauthier, Sandra Simpson, Kathy White and Kathy Toms boogied into second place with a score of 304 and finally Team 18B (Katie Cyr, Pat Nicklin, Carol Bouchard and Bonnie McIntyre) shuffled in with a 322. It was a fun way to enjoy a spot of recreation with a load of brand new balls given out in the end.
Then, of course, let’s hear it for dancer—whoops, golfer— Teresa Cutting, who set the course on fire at the Glacier Greens tournament held on June 9. Cutting scored the third low net and fourth low gross for her flighted division, placing for the first time ever in any tournament.
Coming on June 19 at 1:30 p.m. is a free instruction clinic held by Patsy Gauthier, the ladies rules chairman.
