With spring just around the corner, it’s time to shake last year’s turf chunks out of the soccer cleats and prepare for the new season.
Registration for 100 Mile House & District Soccer Association has its big kickoff at Soccerfest, slated for March 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the 100 Mile House Elementary School gymnasium.
Along with sign-up, there will be all kinds of information available about the club programs, including the Select Soccer program. People can find out about being a team coach or a referee, and also have a look at practice and game schedules.
Children will be able to kick soccer balls around the gym, while their parents take care of the paperwork and Tim Hortons will be providing refreshments.
People are also invited to bring along items for a soccer equipment swap table, as well as old jerseys that will be donated to needy organizations.
Club president Jennifer Appleby says she anticipates having close to 500 children register for soccer this season.
After Soccerfest, people can find registration forms and information on the club website, www.100milesoccer.com or at 100 Mile Sport Shop. Completed forms and payment can then be dropped off at Sport Shop.
Deadline to register is March 31, 2012.
