The baseball diamonds are coming alive in April with softball and fastball action running into June.
The Oceanside Softball and Fastball is about to start and the league is looking forward to another great year.
They will be hosting a free “Learn to Play” fun day next Sunday, April 6, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Parksville Community Parks field.
People are invited to register in advance but can still just go down that day to learn to play.
There will be members of the U19 Rage team on hand to show kids some of the basic skills, they’ll be playing some games and let everyone have fun out on the diamond.
Players can start as early as age six in the “Learn to Play” group and they are expecting to be able to make up about seven teams in all.
Young people in the Learn to Play group will learn all the skills and knowledge it takes to play softball in a fun and exciting environment.
Last year the Oceanside Softball/Rage Fastball program sent two teams to the provincials and one team to regionals, which they look forward to building on this year.
