The Mt. Washington Freestyle Club sent six athletes to compete in moguls, slopestyle and big air, last month at the B.C. Winter Games in Kamloops. Nick Heys (Nanaimo), Thomas Greze-Kozuki (Campbell River), Bryce Benton (Merville), Catrina Krejci (Courtenay), Brynn Johnston (Comox) and Zoe Greze-Kozuki (Campbell River) competed in their respective age categories, U17 and U14.
Zoe won gold in slopestyle and bronze in big air, Brynn won gold in big air, and Catrina won bronze in slopestyle.
Despite cold weather and challenges reaching the Sun Peaks resort from Kamloops for training, the athletes had a great experience attending the Games. A big thank you to chaperone Maja and coach Kole for their support, encouragement, and for getting them back to the Island in one piece.
From March 29 to April 1, Mount Washington hosts the third and final Timber Tour and Super Youth Freestyle skiing event for 2018.
More than 100 athletes will be competing in moguls, slopestyle and big air.
The Mt. Washington Freestyle Club will be joined by clubs from all over the province.
If you want to see what tricks the kids are throwing, come out to the hill to watch.
