Six games remain on the schedule for the SOMBA Tigers, with four in Vancouver and coach Junior Deleon said this could be their final stretch.
The Tigers have six games that haven’t been played and Deleon said it would be difficult to make those up in a week.
“The league may go with a winning percentage, if so we are out,” said Deleon of advancing to the Midget AAA provincials.
The Tigers face Vancouver and Richmond and are coming off a disappointing 20-0 and 4-2 losses to the Victoria Mariners last weekend. In the 20-0 loss, the Mariners scored runs on just four hits as the Tigers committed several errors. In the second game the Tigers led 2-0 but couldn’t build on or hold onto that lead.
Following this weekend, the Tigers may have to play the six make up games depending on what decision the league makes.
“I want to play the games if it means making provincials,” said Deleon.
In preparation of this weekend, the Tigers are working on all aspects of their game and have added Curtis Vernard, Tyler Lemke and Jordan Blake from the bantam to their roster. Deleon is also interested in seeing if his team decides to use the skills the players possess to compete with the top teams.
As for the bantam Tigers, they finished the season in third.
