Sooke 10K run cancelled

The Sooke River 10K was cancelled Sunday due to inclement weather.

They’ll have to run it another day.

“We inspected the course and over half the route is under slush, and with a weather warning issued for the next few days we do not anticipate a positive change in conditions,” said Louise Hodgson-Jones, general manager of the Vancouver Island Runners’ Association.

The race, which starts and ends at Edward Milne Community School, is part of the Vancouver Island Race Series.

The Sooke race will likely be re-scheduled for March 12.

The next race is the race series is the Hatley Castle 8K on Feb. 19, Synergy Health Management Bazan Bay 5K on March 5, Comox Valley RV Half Marathon on March 19, Port Alberni Paper Chase 10K on April 2, and the Cedar 12K and Series Awards on April 9.
