Sovereign Lake loves Tech Cup

Sovereign Lake Nordic Club skiers claimed 16 podium finishes in the Teck Okanagan Cup at Stake Lake near Kamloops last weekend.

Sovereign Lake Nordic Club skiers claimed 16 podium finishes in the Teck Okanagan Cup at Stake Lake near Kamloops last weekend.

A total of 29 locals faced the the hilly course with Dawson Bond topping Atom Boys and his brother Mitchell Bond winning Pee Wee Boys.

Nate Hardy, Evan Sadesky and Luca Ariano also finished strong in Pee Wee boys in eighth, ninth and 10th place, respectively.

Lucas Sadesky grabbed third in Bantam Boys with teammate Torin Andrews right behind in fifth. In the largest division of Midget Girls, Clara Hardy was the top Sovereign Lake finisher in seventh, with Danica Ariano and Madison Land right on her heels in ninth and 10th.

Sisters Annika and Natalya Ariano, in their first race of the season, finished in style in 13th and 14th in the same division.

Looking for more challenge, Ian Oliphant raced up an age group and nabbed second in the Juvenile Boys 1, while Adian Andrews took first in Juvenile Boys 2.

Also taking top spot was Paige Latta in Juvenile Girls 1 with teammates Samanatha Loewen and Emma Smedley sharing the podium in second and third place in Juvenille Girls 2.

Eric Embleton was fifth in Junior Boys, while Hannah Mehain clinched first place in Junior Girls. First place also went to many of the adult skiers, with Sarah Jane winning the Open Women’s division, and Masters skiers Jen Bond, Paul Hardy and Mae Hooper all taking their respective age category.
