Genesis Boxing and Fitness owner Rick Rae marks the gym’s one-year anniversary.

“We are good to go … it’s going to be a great day.”

A reminder that local trainer and mentor Rick Rae and the lads at Genesis Boxing and Fitness take centre ring on Sat., April 2 for the first of four scheduled competitive sparring sessions open to the public as they prepare for the upcoming BC Bronze Gloves tournament slated for Oceanside Place in late May.

A great opportunity for people to see how far the young boxers have come in a short amount of time, as Saturday marks Genesis’ one year anniversary.

The sparring sessions will run from 2 to 5 p.m., and the Salvation Army will be on hand accepting cash donations (and non-perishable food items) for a Japan Relief Fund starting at 10 a.m.

Admission to the open house is by suggested donation of $20 for adults, $10 for youths, and $6 for under 12s, with the all money raised going to the local Food Bank, the MS Foundation, and to help offset the club’s travel costs.
