Spectrum City Dance Academy held their season opening dance recital on March 9.
Titled Showcase, the performance highlighted the routines the studio’s dancers have been working on for the upcoming season. In total, 66 dancers unveiled 35 routines they will be taking into competition for family and friends.
Ella Ferland, the studio’s artistic director, said the students put in hours of work per week training in different genres of dance and practising their routines. She said their showcase was an opportunity to perform their competition work in a non-competitive setting and have fun expressing their art.
“You could tell from the amount of joy on the stage that they were enjoying the dances and enjoying the performing,” said Ferland. “What we saw up there was them loving to dance.”
Next week, the studio will travel to compete in the annual Prince George Dance Festival.
