Umpire Clinic
For anyone interested in becoming an umpire, Prince Rupert Minor Softball is holding an umpire clinic on April 9 in the Eagle Room at the Civic Centre from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
It will be a good opportunity to learn more about softball, and umpires will also make a bit of money during the season.
Registration costs $100, although that will be reimbursed once the umpire has worked three games in the season. It can be done through the Softball BC website or contact prminorsoftball@hotmail.com for additional info.
Intro to Climbing
The Prince Rupert climbing community is hosting an opportunity for people to learn how to climb and belay on April 5.
“This introductory course teaches the skills needed to climb and belay safely in an indoor climbing environment,” reads the Facebook post.
The course will take place at Devil’s Crag Climbing Wall, starting at 6:30 p.m. Participants will learn about the gear and techniques to safely top-rope climb and basic climbing movement will also be covered.
In order to become a belayer at Open Wall in the future, participants will be required to take a belay test at a subsequent visit to the wall.

Seamen kick off
The Prince Rupert Seamen rugby club is getting its season going. The team is practicing right now, and welcoming anyone to come join them.
The first preseason game is scheduled to be played in Terrace at 3:30 p.m. on April 22.
The regular campaign will kickoff in Prince George from May 5-7.
