Rise ‘N Grind Skate Contest
A free skateboarding trick contest makes its return to the Prince Rupert Skate Park for its 12th year, this coming Sunday, June 4.
The Rise ‘N Grind Freestyle Skate Competition is back, hosted by Loaded Sports. Open to all ages and genders, the competition has different themes, courses and obstacles for participants to take part in.
“It’s mostly going to be people trying their best tricks and being judged on their best runs,” Steve Newman said. Judges will be on hand to evaluate the skateboarders, and all competitors must wear a helmet while riding. Those under 19 need a signature from a parent or guardian to compete.
First Aid attendants will be on hand at the park, as will a couple speakers broadcasting some tunes.
Competitors can win prizes such as clothing, stickers, backpacks, skateboard decks and more, donated from industry sponsors.
Free registration begins on Sunday at noon at the skate park, and you can pre-register at Loaded Sports beforehand as well. The event starts at 1 p.m., with a rain-out date scheduled for Sunday, June 18 if the conditions are too wet. Updates will be posted to the “Rise N’ Grind,” Freestyle Skate Competition event page on Facebook.
