ROOS BEAT TOMAHAWKS
The Quesnel Kangaroos downed the Lac la Hache Tomahawks 5-3 in a Central Interior Hockey League game at Rolf Zeis Memorial Arena in Lac la Hache, Jan. 5.
It leaves the Hawks in sixth place in the nine-team league and third place in the East Division.
They play Williams Lake Stampeders in Williams Lake on Jan. 11, and their last regular season game is on against Terrace River Kings in Lac la Hache on Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
OLD CATS TOURNAMENT
The annual Cariboo Old Cats Old Timers Hockey Tournament comes to the South Cariboo Rec. Centre, Jan. 18-20.
There will be 12 teams competing in three divisions, including Recreation 19 and Over, 35 and Over, and 45 and Over.
Round-robin games run Friday, 6-10 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m.-9:45 p.m.; and Sunday, 7 a.m.-2:45 p.m. There will be no finals. Spectators are welcome.
JUVENILE CURLING ZONES
Juvenile Curling Zone Playdowns take place at the 100 Mile Curling Club on Jan. 12-13.
The local girls’ team will be competing for the right to move on to the provincial competition, with games scheduled for 1 and 5 p.m. on Jan. 12, and 9 a.m. on Jan. 13.
While the boys’ team has already qualified by default, games may be arranged between them and the Prince George team, which has also qualified by default.
Spectators are encouraged to come and support the teams. The provincial competition takes place at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club, March 7-10.
JUNIOR B HOCKEY
Don’t miss some great hockey action when the Junior B Penticton Lakers take on the Kamloops Storm at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre on Jan. 11, starting at 7 p.m.
This is a Kootenay International Hockey League contest. Tickets are $12 at Donex, Canlan Ice Sports and Central GM.
