Relay for Life 2017
The annual community-wide cancer research fundraiser is back this Saturday. Register online to mark your spot in the event that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer research in past years in Prince Rupert alone.
The event kicks off with with the survivor’s walk (which supporters can take part in) at 10 a.m. at the Prince Rupert Middle School track (or Patullo Field). The relay continues all through the day and evening until 10 p.m. at the field.

Skeena River Relay fills up
All 30 teams have now registered for the 16th Annual Skeena River Relay, set to take place on Saturday, June 3. Those still looking to be involved can contact race organizers at www.skeenariverrelay.com
The five to 10 person relay gets North-Coasters out and running along Highway 16 between Prince Rupert and Terrace, beginning at the Lester Centre and finishing at Canadian Tire in Terrace.
Some colourful team names this year include Prances with Wolves, Give’er on the River, Rupert Relics, Beaver Fever and Calf Muscle Models.
An awards gathering is scheduled for the Terrace Curling Rink on June 3 at 6:30 p.m. Dinner is included for all relay participants.
Kasiks Archery Shoot
The 11th Annual Kasiks 3D Archery Shoot is set to take place this coming Friday, May 26 to Sunday, May 28 at Kasiks Wilderness Resort on Highway 16 between Prince Rupert and Terrace.
The Prince Rupert-based Eagle Eye Archers will be attending and hosting the event, which includes dinner, novelty shoots, raffle prizes and more.
Groups of three to six take to the course, which has been set up by the trail-prep team at Eagle Eye. Life-sized 3D animals are placed around the course, ready to be the targets of anxious shooters.
