Terry Fox run coming up, Rupert Rampage tryouts, Robinson golfs in Smithers

Robinson golfs in Smithers Open

Prince Rupert golfer Ian Robinson participated in the Smithers Men’s Northern Open on Sept. 3-5 and came in eighth place.

Robinson, who recently won the Men’s Club Championship in Rupert, ended the tournament with a +12 gross score.

Dave Venman won the Open with a -4 score.

Rupert Rampage tryouts

The Rupert Rampage are hosting open tryouts every Monday and Thursday from Sept. 8 to 30.

The senior AA men’s hockey team invites anyone interested in playing competitive hockey to attend.

The tryouts will run on Mondays from 8:45 to 10:15 p.m. and Thursdays from 8:30 to 9:45 p.m.

The Rampage are also looking for an equipment manager, according to its Facebook page. The job is a volunteer position.

Terry Fox run coming up

The Terry Fox Run will take place in Prince Rupert on Sunday, Sept. 18. Registration will take place at noon in the Northern Savings Credit Union lobby at 138 3rd Avenue West.

The five and 10 km run options are suitable for bikes, wheelchairs, strollers and rollerblades. Dogs on leashes are also welcome.

Northern Savings is proud to organize the Terry Fox Run in Prince Rupert, said branch manager Stefan Delloch.

“The response and energy from our community around this event is always tremendous. Complimentary food, beverages and door prizes will be provided to our participants who are encouraged to walk, run or bike. Together, as a community, we will make this event a success,” he said.

It’s the 36th anniversary of the run, which has raised over $650 million for cancer research since its inception.
