Birdies fly high

The Terrace Badminton Club is holding its largest annual tournament April 15 – 17 at Skeena Junior Secondary School.

The junior tournament will start Friday evening and will run until Saturday afternoon. The cost is $25.

The adult tournament begins on Saturday afternoon and will run until Sunday afternoon. The cost is $30 for one event and $40 for two – three events. Lunch will be provided as well as plastic birdies.

Everyone is also encouraged to attend the banquet dinner on Saturday evening, cost will be around $20 and it will begin at 7 p.m.

Dragon boaters get ready

The Lakelse Dragon Boat Society is getting ready for another season of rowing on the water.

It is holding its annual general meeting at 7 p.m. April 27 in the Rich McDaniel room at the Terrace sportsplex.

The group is aiming to be in the water by mid-May.

“It’s probably one of the fastest growing water sports in the area,” said society president Carole Marcellin, who invited anyone interested in joining the Lakelse Dragon Boat society to come and check out the meeting.

Free coaching courses

Courtesy of money from the 2010 BC Winter Games, Level 1 (theory) coaching courses are being offered in Terrace at the sportsplex May 7th-8th.

The course is free, and registration is with PacificSport Northern BC.
