Hosting provincials

Salmon Arm will host the Midget Female Tier 1 Provincials at the Sunwave Centre this coming March 19-22.

The local team recently spent a weekend in the Lower Mainland, sweeping Tri-Cities 5-1 in a battle at Planet Ice in Coquitlam, but not before taking in the Vancouver Canucks overtime win over the Minnesota Wild.

Sarah Botter led the team in scoring, notching two goals, with Taylor Lund, Mykaila Head and Maddison Turner contributing a goal each. Lisa Campeau, Summer Jerpersen and Lanny Houle all had assists.

 

 

Landslide victory

In Thompson Okanagan Ringettte League action Sunday, Junior AA destroyed the Kelowna/Westside Belle 14-2 at the Jim Lind Arena in Westside. Tara MacMillan was fantastic in net, as were all the players who helped light up the scoreboard. Kianna Pak led the team with three goals; Allison Bihari, Riley Pickrell, Alyx Rudderham and Teigan Moore all had two with Taigan Radomske, Kairo Mair and Robyn Slamka making singles.

Weekend split

In ringette, Shuswap Novice Icebreakers had a pair of road games on the weekend, playing in Westside on Saturday and Vernon on Sunday.

Saturday’s game saw the Icebreakers lose 6-3 to the Westside Thunder Elite.  Although they lost, the team put forth their best effort, with Jordan Turner scoring a pair and Ashley Bitz with a single. Sunday netted a better result for the Icebreakers, as they won 7-3 in Vernon versus the Vernon Flames. Goals from Jordan Turner, Ashley Bitz, Cadence Petitclerc-Crosby, Chloe Latosky and Heidi-Leigh Boileau rounded out the scoring for the Icebreakers.

The Icebreakers have a single game at home this weekend.

 

 

Rabbitt recognized

Awarded player of the game, Salmon Arm’s Jordyn Rabbitt scored 17, making four steals, five assists and a blocked shot in the SAIT Trojans 78-56 win over the homestanding Briercrest College Clippers in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference women’s basketball action Saturday.
